Driving Directions From Liberia Airport:

Turn right out of the Liberia airport and head South past Santa Cruz and Filadelfia. Keep driving along the paved highway to Nicoya.
Drive straight through Nicoya on the “main road" until you reach a forced right turn when the main road switches to a one way coming from the other direction. Turn right, then left again onto the central park road that runs parallel to the main road. Follow this road through until it ends and then turn left. Turn right to get back onto the main road at the first opportunity. Continue driving
southward on the paved road approximately 30 km. There will be some twists and turns, but just stay on the main paved highway. Do not follow GPS directions sending you through Zaragosa, it's a lovely route but one that is much less travelled, with little to no signage nor places to stop.
On the main route 150 you will eventually see a gas station on your left with a little ‘soda’ café for snacks and drinks and a hardware store just past the gas station. Right after you leave the gas station, the concrete highway makes a sharp curve to the left. At
the apex of that curve, you will notice a smaller road turning off to the right and downhill. That is the road to Nosara. This road is about 25 km, but changes from pavement to dirt quite frequently and takes from a ½ hour to an hour to drive, depending on your speed. There are a few twists in the road but essentially you are going straight until the first intersection you see called Barco Quebrada. There is a restaurant/bar at this corner called the . The left turn takes you to Samara, turn right for Nosara.  Follow this road towards Nosara through Garza. About five kilometers past Garza you will arrive in Guiones. You will see Coconut Harry’s Surf Shop on the right with the Café De Paris Hotel on the left. Keep heading along the main road towards Playa Pelada, past Giardino Tropicale, past L”Acquaviva, down “washboard hill”, and PAST the first turn off to Pelada with signs for La Luna. Keep going until the next intersection, “the five corners” and make a sharp, left hairpin turn, travel for about 400 meters and we are on your left, you’ll see the signs for El Chivo, pull in to the parking lot and come see us to check in to your room!

Directions From San Jose Airport:

You will take the main InterAmerican Highway (Carretera InterAmericana) north out of San Jose (past the large International Juan Santamaria airport). This highway travels north and west towards Guanacaste Province.  You’ll follow the Inter-American Highway for an hour or two as it rises out of the Central Valley and winds through the mountains … Eventually the highway will flatten out and straighten into a more northerly course.  Follow the flat stretch of highway for an hour or so, when you notice the highway signs for Puntarenas, look for the signs pointing to the “Puente de Amistad” (the new bridge over the Tempisque River). This will be a left turn, with a gas station on the left corner, and a restaurant called Tres Hermanas on the other left corner with a great big bull statue out front. The bridge is about 20 minutes down this road. After you cross the bridge you will be on the Nicoya Peninsula! Keep driving along the paved highway to Nicoya. Just before Nicoya, you will come to an intersection with a 4-way red flashing light- there will be signs indicating a left turn into Nicoya.
